In 1996, BJ Pipeline Inspection Services introduced VECTRA, a new generation of high-resolution MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage) pipeline inspection tools. VECTRA tools combine several unique technologies: gas bypass with active in-line speed control, a tri-axial sensor configuration and the same inertial navigation system as found in the GEOPIG tool. VECTRA is the most advanced metal loss inspection tool available, consistently providing the industry’s most accurate and reliable length, width and depth measurements of defects.
In 2006, BJ acquired PROFILE International UK, originator of the PROFILE™ caliper tool. The PROFILE tool can be employed as a cost-effective caliper/proving run prior to a VECTRA™ MFL tool inspection, or a post-construction survey for acceptance of a pipeline segment. Since the introduction of the GEOPIG™ caliper tool in 1988, BJ Pipeline Inspection Services has been the industry leader in the provision of high-resolution caliper inspection services. This leadership is now complimented by the introduction of BJ’s PROFILE multi-channel caliper tool - the PROFILE tool provides our customers with a cost-effective, high-resolution caliper tool solution where the inertial mapping and additional reporting capabilities of the GEOPIG tool are not required.
