Located in Southeastern Oklahoma, the Woodford shale play is the 2nd oldest gas-producing formation in the US. The first gas production from this area was recorded in 1939.
It is a liquids rich shale formation with a complex geological structure and mineralogy. With depths from 50 to 300 feet, it has relatively shallow reservoirs, with most wells targeting zones above 150 feet.
Current estimates are that the Woodford shale holds approximately 4 tcf of natural gas.
