Cost-effective, thermal recovery

Heavy oil is characterized by higher viscosity and heavier density than conventional crude oil. In addition, it typically resides at relatively shallow depths of less than 3,000 feet. To produce heavy oil cost-effectively, thermal recovery methods expose these shallow, unconsolidated reservoir sands to extreme temperatures, heightening the criticality in achieving wellbore integrity.
