Reservoir understanding leads to operational success
Cost-effective, thermal recovery
Heavy oil is characterized by higher viscosity and heavier density than conventional crude oil. In addition, it typically resides at relatively shallow depths of less than 3,000 feet. To produce heavy oil cost-effectively, thermal recovery methods expose these shallow, unconsolidated reservoir sands to extreme temperatures, heightening the criticality in achieving wellbore integrity.
BJ Services understands the stresses, extremely high temperatures, low pH and corrosive conditions that impact the casing and cement sheaths. We can evaluate and ensure proper selection of the ideal cement that can endure the long-term stress associated with steam injection, as well as mitigate the changing properties of the cement matrix, ensuring long-term well integrity and improving production.
